Unfortunately, in the past, many of the issues now tackled by Trenchless Advisor had been left to the contractor to solve. This ad hoc process provided little to no compensation for the contractor’s time and could even come as a surprise to the client in the way of a variation.
Trenchless Advisor is now employed by some of Australia’s major asset owners and construction companies in water and power. The company has shown that with the correct design, knowledge, documentation and onsite work practices, trenchless projects can be undertaken correctly and efficiently as per the client’s requirements.
Peter Brown said “Trenchless Advisor has now given the client the knowledge and tools, once unavailable, to ensure projects are correctly designed to an achievable level.” This has also allowed the contractor to easily assess and quote projects without having to waste time redesigning or relocating the route due to incorrect bend radii, ground condition achievability or distances.
From its original concept, Trenchless Advisor has grown to help clients, designers and contractors alike with a variety of different services. Clients have been able to ensure correct information and documentation is available when planning a trenchless project. Before going to tender, the company can advise on initial project feasibility and budget costing to bore design and assist with tender documentation. This has now been increased to cover onsite audits and even project management.

In previous years too many projects submitted for tender have been unachievable due to an array of different issues. This has caused confusion with clients and contractors. Pricing can become difficult and construction schedules may be increased to cover any modifications needed by the contractor to complete the project. This can also cause major pricing variations before and after the completion of the project, resulting in disputes and budget blowouts.
