The project entailed the construction of a DN 315 HDPE Sewer Rising mains pipeline to be installed using Horizontal Directional Drilling at Beachmere near the mouth of the Caboolture River
The pipeline replaced the existing rising main which was installed in the late 1980s, by open trenching, to transfer sewerage form Beachmere to the Burpengary East Sewerage treatment plant. The existing pipeline was deemed high risk and, coupled with the population growth in the area, a larger diameter was also required.
Coe Drilling mobilised to site in May 2007, following design approval, and set up site close to the boat ramp at Beachmere.
The CoeDrill 550 was selected as the most appropriate HDD rig to use and following site establishment the Pilot Hole was completed in less than seven days using a 6 ¾ inch mud motor. The final 18 inch diameter borehole was completed with one reaming pass, after which a cleaning pass was completed to ensure the integrity of the borehole prior to pipeline installation.

The pipeline was installed and, following a hydrostatic test, the completed works were handed over to Caboolture Shire Council in July 2007.
Elsewhere in Queensland, Coe Drilling is busy completing work on the Southern Regional Water Pipeline. On this project Coe is using two 54 inch Rockhead Boring Units and one 54 inch Auger Boring Unit to install 1,350 mm steel casings, of up to 150 m in length, ahead of the mainline pipelaying crews.
The Rockhead units are hydraulically driven and with a 21 disc face they are capable of cutting rock up to 220 MPa in drives up to 200 m. The units are laser guided with steerable heads to allow control of line and grade. The equipment was designed and built by Coe Drilling at its Gold Coast Engineering facility.
In South Australia, Coe Drilling is currently working to complete the installation of the Jervois water pipeline for South Australia Water. The works include a 700 m crossing of the Murray River at Tailem Bend. The Coedrill 180 HD Rigspread is completing the works whilst a crew is preparing the pipeline near Jervois.
