The $A118 million ‘Three Towns’ sewerage scheme will involve constructing over 116 kilometres of pipeline, including a 760 metre pass under the Hawkesbury River. Other trenchless techniques include micro bores, HDD, non-destructive potholing and the use of GPR.

John Holland’s NSW Operations Manager Gerald Fender said that since the property works involve mature gardens in an established area, the choice of techniques – such as the 24,000 metres of HDD property works and 33,800 metres of reticulation networks – has been 90 per cent cost driven.

The Alliance is also focused on customer satisfaction, acknowledging that the trenchless method results in minimal disruption to residents.
