The firm’s founder, James Thomson, is a renowned expert on microtunnelling and pipe jacking. With Mr Thomson’s transition from owner to Senior Associate, the new partners have redirected the firm’s expertise into the areas of pipeline condition assessment and rehabilitation. The firm, active in ongoing rehabilitation projects in the US, UK, Hong Kong and India, is currently developing guidelines for inspecting force mains as part of a research project for the Water Environment Research Foundation (WERF), and will be a sub-consultant to Battelle (Columbus, Ohio) on two new recently awarded EPA research projects covering condition assessment and rehabilitation of water and wastewater systems.

Ed is also an expert in pipe-soil structural interaction and the design of both flexible and rigid pipes. He has over 29 years experience in the design, manufacture, installation and rehabilitation of pipelines for water and wastewater projects in over 42 countries. Ed’s career has included periods as a design engineer, public works manager, and a construction professional all in the field of underground technology.

For the past three years, Ed has been the President of Rehabilitation Resources Solutions where he has been working with both manufacturers and suppliers of CIPP lining systems, developing approaches for lateral and mainline renewal.

Ed Kampbell will continue to be located in Columbus, Ohio where Jason Consultants has already established a local presence.
