The contract was awarded to UEA, with the scope of work covering the design and installation of 132 kV cable throughout the Ausgrid network. The work will entail installing HV cables, cable trenches, conduits and pits along CBD and suburban roadways and through reserves and parklands and coordinating with the existing services.
The scope of the program comprises five underbores in sandstone from the roadway outside the substation, down into the location of the new substation basement as part of the East Lindfield project.
Although the bores are relatively short at 70 m each, there is an added complexity to the project due to the 18 m elevation between the entry and exit points, and the need to cross a bank with 132 kV cables.
Thiess and Parsons Brinckerhoff have been selected to join Ausgrid through the TraCa alliance to deliver various transmission cable projects as part of a five-year program of works.
