The wastewater system in Newcastle generally performs very well, however, in the Glenrock SCA the environment can be affected during wet weather as rain water enters the existing pipes using up capacity and causing overflows. The proposed upgrade works are required to reduce the wet weather's overflow impacts on the environment and to cater for future development in the Charlestown/Dudley area.
