Kembla Watertech has had firsthand experience with the upgraded CCTV equipment. Having purchased the IBAK Panoramo SI, the company plans to put it to good use integrating it into its asset management work programs on a number of projects. The Panoramo SI compliments Kembla’s existing range of CCTV products and will aid the company in successfully bidding for and completing work required in manhole inspection and rehabilitation tenders.
The simple set-up and use of system helps minimise occupational health and safety issues by negating manned entry into the manhole while enabling a complete 360 degree scan of its interior.
Key features
The Panoramo SI is a 3D Optoscanner that uses high resolution digital cameras with specially designed, distortion-free wide-angle fish eye lenses. This allows for an entire interior scan of the manhole to be completed in only a few seconds through a single vertical run. The camera travels at a speed of 35 cm per second and transmits the captured images digitally via a fibre-optic cable directly to the system’s control centre. The operator can either view the captured images live or store them for future interrogation in the office.

Kembla Watertech CEO said “For too long has the inspection of maintenance holes and chambers necessitated the daily risk of man entry. It is reassuring that there is now a safe, efficient and user friendly way to inspect these assets. Regardless of depth, utilising the technologically advanced Panoramo SI CCTV system affords stake holders a desktop, IT evaluation method without the need for a hardcopy or dangerous confined space entry.”
