The Conference is being organised by No-Dig Conferences and Exhibitions, who have staged international No-Dig and Trenchless events in the UK, Far East and Middle East since 1985.

Cairo played host to an extremely successful inaugural event in 2001 which was the catalyst for the formation of the Egyptian Society for Trenchless Technology (EGSTT), after a handful of engineers arranged an initial meeting to discuss a regular forum to promote the use of Trenchless Technology. The EGSTT today has an impressive membership of more than 100 organisations and individuals.

Governments around the world are becoming increasingly aware of the environmental benefits that trenchless techniques bring, particularly in urban areas. Egypt is no exception and with Greater Cairo’s population of more than 12 million and an 800,000 km network of underground utilities, there is huge pressure to keep the city on the move. Public works activities are strictly regulated and the use of trenchless techniques is on the increase. In addition, some major projects which are planned over the next two to three years will bring even greater activity and investment - including major utility relocation works in connection with the third line of the Cairo Metro and the anticipated major repair program as a result of Cairo Water & Sewage’s recent evaluation exercise of the existing network.

The exhibition of equipment and services will be complemented by a Conference program which will include technical papers on the latest techniques, as well as a number of case study papers featuring projects carried out in the region and around the world.

The three day event is officially supported by the Egyptian Society for Trenchless Technology, the Arab Contractors, the International Society for Trenchless Technology and the United Nations Environment Program. Several members from the various societies for Trenchless Technology around the world are showing significant interest, with the German Society already reserving space for a national pavilion.
