After more than a year of construction works, part of which involved pipe ramming under tram tracks, William Street in Melbourne’s central business district has been returned to normal following the replacement of 150-year-old watermains.
The project, carried out by City West Water, stretched across nearly 4 km.
Replacing watermains in a major city centre is a complex undertaking and this project was one of the largest of its kind ever carried out in Melbourne’s CBD.
To find out more about what it takes to keep the water flowing in Melbourne’s CBD and surrounds, watch the short video on City West Water's website.
City West Water will be co-presenting with one of its contractors at Trenchless Live 2012 on the William Street Water Main Renewal Project.
