There are a number of Trenchless Technology related events occurring nationally and internationally which will be of interest to those involved in the TT industry. The next International No-Dig 2005 will be conducted by the Netherlands Society for Trenchless Technology in Rotterdam from September 19 to 21. This is the major International Event in the Trenchless Calendar for 2005 and should not be missed.
The Australasian Society for Trenchless Technology, in conjunction with the NZ Water and Wastewater Association, will be conducting the second enviroNZ Conference and Exhibition in Auckland New Zealand from September 28 – 30. This will also be ASTT’s National Conference and Exhibition for 2005/06, and is a must for anyone with an interest in the Australasian TT industry.
In March 2006 Westrade, with the endorsement of the ISTT, will be conducting Trenchless Asia in Shanghai. For those who see potential in the burgeoning TT market in China, ASTT has arranged a special discount for those who wish to exhibit .
Planning is now well underway for the 24th International Conference and Exhibition to be held in Brisbane from October 29 to November 2 2006. Under the guidance of Conference Organising Committee Chairman, Andy Krumins, this event is shaping up to be bigger and better than the Perth No-Dig 2000, regarded as one of the best No-Dig events. Registering at http://www.nodig06.im.com.au/
welcome.html will ensure you are kept in the communications loop for updates on progress for this event.
For new members of ASTT, or for those existing members who wish to contribute to your Society, a visit to the ASTT website at www.astt.com.au outlines the approach taken to our annual business planning, and how this links to our strategic planning. Of special interest are the initiatives we have under way, and progress on these initiatives. You can contribute to this process by contacting any of the ASTT Councillors, the Secretary or myself if you wish to share any ideas, innovations and suggestions that you feel would help ASTT achieve its objectives.
As a member of the International Board of Directors for ISTT, I am involved in a number of the key initiatives undertaken by the Executive Sub Committee of ISTT. One of these is about membership value, and the development and implementation of Trenchless e-News (TEN), the new trade portal for the Trenchless industry at www.nodig-construction.com.
The Trenchless Technology international website as well as the Trenchless Technology international magazine provide only some of the additional value being offered to ASTT Members. As national societies pay an annual subscription to ISTT based on the number of corporate and individual Members, it is most important that this subscription is seen as adding value for ASTT Members.
I am looking forward to the Rotterdam No-Dig where I will take up the role of International Chairman of ISTT. This will be for a period of two years and follows on from a period of consolidation and expansion within the international family of Trenchless Societies overseen by Professor Ray Sterling. Ray has done an outstanding job in guiding ISTT through some potentially difficult situations, where his globetrotting combined with his diplomatic and conciliation skills have provided a solid base for the future of ISTT.
