Humes launch new jacking pipes

The “÷S’ series pipes are available in DN300 through to DN800 while the “÷J’ Series cover larger diameters DN800 to DN2000. Both joint types can be supplied with cast-in bands in plain mild steel, galvanised steel or 304/316 grade stainless steel and have fully confined rubber ring seals to provide a water tight joint to accommodate high external ground water pressure and internal water pressure where applicable.

The “÷J’ series includes a full range of accessories including pipes for intermediate stations, lead pipes and grout points, and can also be supplied with Plastiline lining for trenchless installation in trunk sewer applications.

Steel reinforced concrete jacking pipes are able to accommodate high jacking forces in comparison to jacking pipes manufactured in alternative materials.

The pipes have already been installed in a number of locations, including under the Hunter Valley railway in New South Wales, where the pipes were installed under a busy railway line to replace existing
“÷maintenance-intensive’ structures, and the Brukunga Mine in South Australia where 781 m of steel reinforced concrete pipe was used to divert a waterway around a
contaminated former mine site.

The Humes technical services team can provide details of the allowable loads for various joint deflections for the new “÷S’ and “÷J’ series pipes.
