Mr Brewster has an extensive background in underground civil engineering in Australia and abroad and replaces Ross Scrim, who retired after nearly 40 years in the mining and civil engineering fields, much of it with Robbins. Mr Scrim will continue to consult with Robbins.
Robbins has expanded its product range in Australia and neighbouring countries with the introduction of their Trenchless Technology products into those markets. Melbourne based contractor, ACME, recently purchased a Robbins auger boring machine (ABM) and small boring unit (SBU). The SBU is a device that allows auger boring machines to excavate hard rock. The Robbins SBU/ABM combination has been successfully working for several years on many projects in the US.
Robbins has provided tunnel boring machines to most of Australia’s major tunnelling projects. Two Robbins TBMs are currently completing the Epping to Chatswood Rail Link, one of which recently broke a world record for high speed tunnelling.
