Renewal of Randwick water mains using swage lining

Contractor ITS Trenchless has begun work on the project using a swage lining method to replace the existing cast iron main, which was originally installed in the early 20th Century. The main will be replaced with a 400 mm diameter, PN10 polyethylene pipe.

Swage lining is being used as the rehabilitation method for this project in order to reduce disruption and restoration costs. Moreover, swage lining has a sustainable advantage, as it significantly reduces the amount of waste, fuel and materials required to undertake the renewal.

The $A6 million project is part of the Water Main Renewals Program, which is due to be completed before Christmas 2009.
