From the Chairman’s Desk

The Society recognises and appreciates the efforts of Chris Bland and his team at Great Southern Press for the excellent organisation and success of the event. The event continues to grow at a time that economic constraints have suggested it should not. In addition I would like to also recognise:

  • The sponsors – platinum sponsor Interflow, silver sponsor Vermeer, bronze sponsor Parsons Brinckerhoff and DCI and Westnet – who strongly supported the event and in doing so support their industry.
  • The speakers who delivered excellent conference papers on various aspects of the trenchless industry. The papers delivered by the international keynote speakers were particularly interesting (see page 24 for more information). I would like to recognise Chris Frangos and the team that co-ordinated these speakers.
  • The exhibitors who continue to support these events strongly.
  • The delegates and partners who attended and enjoyed the conference and its social activities
  • .

The next event will be Trenchless Live 2010 to be held in Coffs Harbour, 17-20 October 2010. Make sure you pencil it in to your calendar.

Again I would like to remind everyone about the next International No-Dig that will take place in Singapore in November 2010. Please consider going to this and if you do, note the potential discount offer as described in ASTT Secretary Jeff Pace’s report.

During the recent conference a session was provided to “÷workshop’ the proposed Guidelines, Standards and Specifications in the key areas of HDD, Pipe Bursting, Microtunnelling and Pipe Jacking. The ASTT is keen to provide these as an aid to members and they will soon be available through our website.

I take this opportunity to wish all members a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year as we head towards 2010.

Trevor Gosatti

Chairman, ASTT
