The draft documents were presented to delegates at Trenchless Australasia 2009 for comment and input for industry.
The ASTT receives numerous enquiries from members and non-members on the availability of trenchless information to assist with proposed or current projects.
In accordance with one of the key objectives of the ASTT Business Plan “to publish guidelines and standards for new installations, rehabilitation and support services which are suitable for Australasian conditions utilising current International best practice”, the society commissioned Calibre Projects to draft the industry outline.
“Following on from the well-attended presentation and group workshop at Trenchless Australasia 2009, I am delighted to advise the industry that we have now achieved part one of our toughest goal,” said ASTT Secretary Jeff Pace.
The documents will assist Trenchless Technology users with many of the questions regarding the potential suitability of different methods for their projects. They will also provide users with a basic understanding of functions and differences.
The documents will provide a consistent industry baseline for the three techniques
To assist users to select and utilise the most suitable trenchless technique available.
“Mr Chong and all those that provided valuable input into the development of these key documents are thanked for their efforts. It has been a lengthy process but well worth the effort,” said Mr Pace.
These documents will not be static. A periodic review will be undertaken based on user feedback.
