The transmission cable will move high voltage electricity from Torrens Island to the proposed City West Substation. The transmission cable will be the second high voltage electricity transmission supply in Adelaide and is being constructed to meet the city’s projected electricity demand.
ElectraNet’s CEO Ian Stirling says “This expansion will strengthen Adelaide’s electricity supply and provide the opportunity to achieve long term growth plans for Adelaide and South Australia.”
ElectraNet is currently finalising contracts for the detailed design and construction of the substation, underground transmission line and associated telecommunications link. Works are expected to commence in 2010 for completion by late 2011.
