Directional drilling for Devil Creek

DrillTec is currently undertaking shoreline crossing works using horizontal directional drilling (HDD) for Apache Energy at Forty Mile Beach. The shoreline crossing works at Gnoorea Point will connect the offshore section of the pipeline with the onshore sections via a 1,850 metre buried pipeline.

The crossing works are part of a 110 kilometre onshore and offshore gas supply pipeline, which will transport gas from the Reindeer field to the Devil Creek Gas Plant. When commissioned, the Devil Creek Gas Plant will provide up to 100 million standard cubic feet per day of dry natural gas and 80 kilolitres per day of gas condensate.

Contractor John Holland commenced construction of the project in September 2009 with works expected to be completed by late 2011. The development is expected to have a life of 20 to 30 years.
