Queensland expansion to use HDD

In 2009, pipeline owners Epic Energy announced the Stage 3 expansion of the Southwest Queensland Pipeline (SWQP), dubbed QSN 3. The expansion will include 940 km of looping on the entire SWQP mainline and the QSN Link. The new line will have a diameter of 457 mm.

Nacap has been contracted for the two HDD crossings which will take place at the Maranoa and Warrego rivers.

The SWQP links Queensland’s coal seam gas fields with the QSN Link pipeline, which connects into the Moomba to Sydney Pipeline system and the Moomba to Adelaide Pipeline. The pipeline will operate at a capacity of approximately 380 Terra Joules per day.

The construction is to take approximately fourteen months-averaging a progress of more than 4 km a day.
