New pipe jacking record set

At approximately 1 km the 2.1 m internal diameter pipejack is the longest in the southern hemisphere.

A total of ten interjacking stations were deployed on the alignment and the tunnelling works were completed five weeks ahead of schedule.

“The only longer pipejacks are in Europe and do not include a significant vertical curve and a 60 m climb from the launch position to the final destination,” McConnell Dowell said.

The Northern Pipeline Inter-connector is part of the South East Queensland water grid and is owned by the Queensland Government.
