New thrust boring rig heads to Cairns

Due to the increase in demand for thrust boring installations and the increase in length and diameter required by clients, UEA have purchased the McLaughlin McL 36/42 auger boring unit, through Vermeer Australia.

The machine will provide UEA with more horsepower enabling bigger diameters to be installed (up to 1,080 mm steel casing) over longer distances (up to 80 m). With state of the art technology and approved safety systems, the McLaughlin unit will enable UEA to achieve on grade bores with increased accuracy.

UEA’s project in Cairns entails the installation of 1,000 mm diameter steel envelope pipe using thrust boring methodology in nine separate locations ranging from 20 m to 75 m. To read more about this project click here.
