Mudgeeraba’s local electricity network gets a boost

As part of the upgrade, crews will also be installing new electrical equipment in various locations to enable quicker and easier access to the new underground electricity network.

The tunnel boring will be carried out by contractor Techdrill Civil and Mining Services.

Energex’s Principal Asset Officer Franco Putzolu said the project would improve power reliability and ensure ongoing supply for customers.

“The project will improve power supplies for more than 5,500 homes and businesses in the Mudgeeraba area and allow greater access to the underground power network, which will in turn enable Energex technicians to isolate and restore electricity quickly if unexpected power interruptions occur.”

This project is part of a five-year capital expenditure program being undertaken by Energex to upgrade the South East Queensland electricity network.

Subject to weather conditions, works are due to be completed by December 2012.
