In Victoria, Melbourne Water is preparing to replace a section of ageing sewer main near Coate Park in Alphington. The century-old main seems a likely candidate for trenchless installations due to its proximity to the Eastern Freeway and Project Spokesperson Phil Corluka’s statement that community involvement in the project is vital. Communities are currently being consulted on the best way to upgrade the main.
The tender for the multi-million dollar project will be released in the coming months with works expected to start in late 2013.
