Trenchless Live 2012 was very successful by all accounts, for exhibitors and delegates, and was a unique opportunity to see Trenchless Technology in a “÷live’ environment. In addition, the seminars and panel events attracted a lot of interest and were extremely well-attended. As I indicated in the previous edition, the ASTT is keen to continue promoting events such as this so that capital works programs and individual infrastructure projects get the opportunity to see why the latest in trenchless innovation should be used ahead of other methods.
At Trenchless Live 2012, the ASTT presented the annual ASTT Awards, honouring outstanding projects completed in Australasia. I acknowledge and congratulate the following:
- Project of the Year – New Installation:
Melbourne Main Sewer Replacement undertaken by Melbourne Water Corporation, Aurecon, John Holland and GHD - Project of the Year – Rehabilitation Project:
Victoria Street, Darlinghurst Reinforced CIPP Installation undertaken by Kembla Watertech Pipeline Solutions
Congratulations to the winners, who will now be nominated by the ASTT for the next International Society of Trenchless Technology (ISTT) Awards.
The International No-Dig 2012, held in Brazil, was the first to be hosted in South America, and was a great opportunity to promote trenchless to the infrastructure bodies in that region. There is a large amount of infrastructure build planned in Brazil, with both the World Cup soccer and the Olympic Games scheduled to be held there. At the event, the ISTT reported to its members that it has grown in the last year to now have 27 representative societies.
The completion of the ISTT No-Dig 2012 event now paves the way for the International No-Dig 2013, to be held in Sydney, to advance “÷full speed ahead’. If you are intending to exhibit at that event, get in early to avoid disappointment, because a significant amount of space has already been booked. This event will be a terrific showcase of Trenchless Technology for our region and the ASTT looks forward to it.
I take this opportunity to wish all ASTT members and trenchless stakeholders the best for the coming festive season, and hope that you have a very happy New Year.
