Sliplining used to repair 100-year-old watermains

City West Water has undertaken the works along the eastern-side of Church Street, Richmond, between the Monash Freeway and Swan Street.

The works will replace watermains that are approaching 100 years of service.

The works will involve significant construction activity, including the use of sliplining to cross an intersection.

The Church Street watermain renewal will begin at the Monash Freeway intersection moving north in sections, with completion scheduled for mid year.

The project is part of an $AU100 million investment in water infrastructure replacement across inner and western areas of Melbourne.

City West Water Managing Director Anne Barker said “The watermain renewal in Church Street is another important investment in Melbourne’s water supply system, and crucial to the ongoing reliability of the network.”
