Pipelining company appoints Director and Chairman

Murphy Pipe and Civil, a product of Australia’s Pipe and Civil Constructions and the United Kingdom’s construction giant J. Murphy and Sons, has gained a major presence in many of Australia’s large-scale pipeline projects.

In line with this growth, Murphy Pipe and Civil Managing Director Jim Campbell announced the appointment of former long-time Minter Ellison Lawyers Partner Denis Gately as the company’s first independent Director and Chairman. Mr Gately has also held Director and Chairman roles with ASX-listed entities Xanadu Mines, Alligator Energy and Gloucester Coal.

On his Board Chairman appointment, Mr Gately said he looked forward to working closely with Murphy Pipe and Civil’s six Board members and the company’s Executive Management Team to further etch a positive presence within the Australian pipeline construction industry landscape.

The company also recently increased its workforce of pipeline specialists to more than 1,400 as a result of adding a further $A700 million in construction work to its project portfolio.
