Delegates enjoyed a “÷beer and bratwurst’ themed evening, sponsored by HOBAS.
Today began with a cultural ‘Welcome to country’ performance and a Keynote Presentation by incoming ISTT Chairman Derek Choi, where he outlined his vision for the future of the society, which he described as having three key areas he would focus on during his time as Chairman.
- Outreach: Increasing trenchless engagement in regions where the market in under-developed, including South East Asia, the Middle East, and areas of South America.
- Education: Mr Choi believes the ISTT can learn from the NASTT and many other societies that view students are the future, recognising that education of the youth will lead to better informed future leaders.
- Engagement: Engaging with the ISTT’s 3,000 members in new ways, including embracing social media such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.
Today delegates will attend a variety of sessions at the three-streamed technical program throughout the day, before capping off the first day of the conference with a cruise on the iconic Sydney Harbour, sponsored by Vermeer.
Tomorrow will feature Keynote presentations by past ISTT and ASTT Chairman and trenchless veteran Menno Henneveld, as well as Sydney Water General Manager of Liveable City Solutions Paul Freeman.
