HDD enhances fire fighting capacity

Unitywater invested $A150,000 in the water network upgrade in response to the demands of growth in the area.

Unitywater Executive Manager Infrastructure Planning and Capital Delivery Simon Taylor said to minimise any disruption to residents, businesses and motorists, Unitywater used horizontal directional drilling to install the water pipes.

“We laid the pipes without digging open trenches so we could minimise the impact of the work on the surrounding community and reduce the disturbance to footpaths, streets and business carparks,” said Mr Taylor.

This project is part of Unitywater’s $A680 million investment over the next five years to increase water and sewerage network capacity and cater for future population growth in the region.
