From the Chairman’s Desk

At this forum the Council of the ASTT was elected and the following was declared as the new Council:

Western Australia – Trevor Gosatti (Chairman)

New Zealand – Steve Apeldoorn (Vice Chairman)

Victoria – Chris Frangos

New South Wales – Nabil Issa

Northern Territory – Peter Lockett

Queensland – Ben Crosby

South Australia – Chris Neate

Tasmania – (vacant)

Secretary/Treasurer – Jeff Pace (ISTT Representative)

I congratulate the Councillors elected and look forward to working with them to continue to take the Society forward in the next year.

In particular I welcome both Ben Crosby from Queensland and Chris Neate from South Australia, as new Councillors to the ASTT. It is great to see both Ben and Chris put their hands up to be involved in the ASTT and I am sure they will contribute to enhance the Society.

I would like to take this opportunity also to recognise departing Councillors Tim Bartholomaeus and Andy Krumins. Tim has been the South Australian Councillor for a couple of years and we thank him for his service in that time.

Andy Krumins has been the Society’s longest serving Councillor representing Queensland for over 20 years since (1994) and his impact can not be valued enough. Andy has been the Vice Chairman of the ASTT, has been a Trenchless Person of the Year winner, and was the Chair of the successful International No-Dig held in Brisbane in 2006.

He has worked tirelessly for the ASTT and made a significant contribution to the Society and the trenchless industry. We thank him for his efforts.

The new Council will be focusing on a number of issues over the next few months, including training and education initiatives that I touched on in the last edition of Trenchless Australasia, and we hope to be able to promote these soon in an upcoming issue.

Again, I want to remind industry stakeholders of the 2014 Water New Zealand Annual Conference and Expo, to be held at Hamilton, New Zealand from 17-19 September 2014. The ASTT is a partner of this event and there will be a trenchless stream included in this conference this year and we ask interested members to be involved.

If you have any pressing trenchless industry issues that you would like the ASTT to help you with, please do not hesitate to contact your local Councillor or myself as Chairman, and we would be happy to assist in any way possible.

That is what your Council is for.

Trevor Gosatti
