The Australian Government is acutely aware of the importance of developing safe, efficient, and cost-effective transport infrastructure for our nation, to help drive our long-term competitiveness and productivity and serve us into the 21st Century.
All Australians stand to benefit from safe and efficient transport networks.
Inter-connected local and national networks will help untangle the gridlocks in our cities, improve access to our ports, speed up the supply chain and bust the freight bottlenecks that strangle commerce.
To achieve these goals, we have committed $AU50 billion to build and upgrade Australia’s transport infrastructure on a never-before-seen scale.
Funding includes a new $AU11.6 billion Infrastructure Growth Package, which has the potential to lever total investments by governments and the private sector to more than $AU125 billion.
This will create an infrastructure boom unmatched in our history – with the work strengthening our global competitiveness and increasing job opportunities and delivering benefits, both direct and indirect, to communities across the country.
The growing Trenchless Technology sector will play an important role in delivering many of the priority national and local road and rail projects on our agenda.
Councils, water authorities, gas and communication providers around Australia appreciate trenchless techniques, because they minimise surface disruption, including the necessity to close roads and inconvenience commuter and freight traffic.
These are the modern infrastructure technologies that help reduce costs and bring projects in on time.
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Trenchless Australasia magazine on reaching its ten year milestone as a trusted industry resource in a rapidly growing area of modern infrastructure expertise.
The Hon Warren Truss MP
Deputy Prime Minister
Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development
