From the Prime Minister

For ten years Trenchless Australasia has provided news and information to businesses in the $A132 billion engineering construction industry.

This anniversary is an opportunity to acknowledge the important role Trenchless Technology plays in helping to build better and more modern infrastructure.

As part of the Government’s Economic Action Strategy, we are building the infrastructure of the 21st century.

The Government wants to see more cranes in the sky, bulldozers on the ground and tunnelling underground because new construction means more jobs, more growth and better infrastructure for all.

The Government’s first Budget has committed a record $A50 billion to build new and better infrastructure, and we’re already moving on major projects around the country.

The talk is over for a second airport for Sydney and a decision was made for it to be built at Badgerys Creek.

The Government is also committed to rolling out the National Broadband Network as quickly as possible, at less cost to taxpayers and more affordably for consumers.

Trenchless Australasia’s 10th anniversary occurs at time when we are shifting from short-term consumption to long-term investment.

The successful delivery of long-term major infrastructure projects right across Australia will be in no small part due to Trenchless Technology.

I congratulate Trenchless Australasia for supporting this vital industry, and I send your staff and readers my best wishes on this 10th anniversary.

The Hon Tony Abbott MP

Prime Minister of Australia
