2014 Membership Fee Payments

2014 Membership fee renewals were sent to all members in early December 2014.

Reminder notices have been sent to those that are still unfinancial. These fees were due to be paid on 1 January, 2014.

For those members that have overlooked this payment, can you please make the payments now or advise me immediately should you have other intentions. All members are encouraged to use the preferred method of payment, which is by direct debit. Australasian Society for Trenchless Technology (ASTT) bank details are shown on the tax invoices that were sent in early December 2014.

When making your payment, please ensure that either your membership number or your name is included as a reference as this ensures that your payment is allocated correctly.

A reminder that the ASTT does not accept Credit Card payments.

No-Dig Down Under heads to the Gold Coast, NASTT Training Courses

As an added attraction to those attending (or thinking of attending) the next national conference at the Gold Coast this September, there will be the opportunity to participate in the world-acclaimed Good Practices Training Courses from the North American Society of Trenchless Technology (NASTT). What a bonus!

After a considerable amount of discussions with both the ASTT Council and the NASTT Board, permission has now been granted to allow us to present some of these courses to anyone who has an interest or desire to become more conversant with the various trenchless technologies on offer.

There are three courses currently being considered to run in conjunction with the Gold Coast event. These are the Cured-in-Place Pipe Good Practices Course, the Horizontal Directional Drilling Good Practices Guidelines Course and the New Installation Methods Good Practices Course for Auger Boring, Pipe Ramming, Pipe Jacking and Pilot Tube.

Keep your eyes on the conference website nodigdownunder.com for the latest information.

ASTT Council Nominations

The call for nominations to council will be e-mailed to all ASTT Members during the month of March. Should any financial member wish to nominate for one of these positions, the name of the nominee plus a seconder MUST be received in writing by the Federal Secretary by the stipulated date on the e-mail.

Please note that you can only apply for the State (or country in the case of New Zealand) in which your membership is registered.

The current ASTT Council structure is as indicated: Trevor Gosatti (Western Australia), Ben Crosby (Queensland), Chris Frangos (Victoria), Dudley Jensen (South Australia), Nabil Issa (New South Wales) and Steve Apeldoorn (New Zealand). There are currently vacancies in Tasmania and the Northern Territory.

2015 ISTT No-Dig Awards Procedure

The International Society for Trenchless Technology (ISTT) is now accepting applications for the 2015 No-Dig Annual Award, to be presented at the 33rd International No-Dig conference and exhibition in Istanbul, Turkey. The closing date for submission is Friday, 10 July 2015. To enter, go to the ISTT website at istt.com/award-rules-applications and follow the prompts.

Members are reminded that the ISTT will only accept ASTT-endorsed nominations for this award. Therefore, should any ASTT member wish to submit an application to the award, they will have to forward it to the ASTT Secretary for society endorsement. It will then be passed to the ISTT for assessment.
