Leighton Contractors General Manager Western John Kirkwood will assume the top job from October 2015, with Seymour Whyte Chairman Mac Drysdale confirming the appointment this week. “Mr Kirkwood previously held senior roles within Abigroup Contractors, including four years as National Operations Director responsible for all business operations across Australia, spanning civil infrastructure, resources and utilities,” said Mr Drysdale. “Mr Kirkwood will lead the Seymour Whyte Group, as it delivers on its growth and diversification strategy and expands its client base and operational footprint.” The role will be based in Brisbane and will require substantial major project, stakeholder relations and industry experience. Commenting on his new appointment, Mr Kirkwood said he was excited to be joining Seymour Whyte and was committed to ensuring the company’s growth strategy is pursued whilst generating consistent returns for shareholders. Companies in the Seymour Whyte Limited portfolio include Seymour Whyte Constructions, which focuses on transport infrastructure, and Rob Carr, a utilities infrastructure specialist.
