Sudipta Basu
Principal Engineer, Sydney Water

Sudipta Basu is currently working as a Principal Engineer at Sydney Water. His experience with Trenchless Technology dates back to the early 1990s when he, as part of a dedicated Sydney Water team, started trialling a number of trenchless techniques to address Sydney Water’s ageing sewers.

Sudipta has since been involved in many facets of pipeline renewal, ranging from investigation to design, and from procurement to post-implementation reviews.

Over the years, Sudipta has led a number of product assessments, approvals, development of technical specifications, and reviews of designs and procurement. He has published a number of papers on Trenchless Technology topics, including aspects of sewer grouting and lining, and the management of rehabilitation projects.

He holds a first class honours degree in Civil Engineering and Master of Engineering degrees in both Waste Management and Geotech-Transportation Engineering.

Prior to joining Sydney Water, he worked for overseas international engineering consultants in South Asia and the Middle East for almost 15 years.

Jeff Lawson
Sales Manager, Vermeer Australia

Vermeer’s Jeff Lawson is one of the industry’s leading experts in Trenchless Technology. With over nine years’ experience in the construction business, he has many established relationships with contractors, asset owners, manufacturers and suppliers.

Jeff has made numerous presentations at exhibitions and conferences worldwide, his most recent being “Working Near Underground Assets for NBN”. Jeff is also heavily involved with international horizontal directional drilling training and projects.

Being a respected member of Vermeer, Jeff manages the construction team to move Vermeer forward within the trenchless market. He continues to pass on his knowledge and understanding of Trenchless Technology with Vermeer machinery to provide businesses with increased productivity and profit.

Scott Stevens
Principal Civil Engineer, Queensland Urban Utilities

Scott is an experienced Chartered Professional Civil Engineer working for Queensland Urban Utilities, which provides water and sewerage services to 1.4 million people in South East Queensland.

He has international experience in the water and wastewater industry, having worked in the United Kingdom and on major projects in the Middle East.

Scott has been actively involved in many major infrastructure projects including the detailed design and construction of large diameter pipelines, water and wastewater civil infrastructure and treatment facilities.

Since joining the Queensland Urban Utilities Infrastructure Delivery Team, Scott has been responsible for the design management and technical oversight of several projects that are heavily reliant on trenchless construction methods.

In his spare time, Scott enjoys keeping up to date with the latest developments in the water industry and trenchless technologies.
