Meet the newest ASTT member: DKM Utility Services

Based in Tullamarine with an experienced workforce of 40 staff, DKM Utility Services has completed, or are principle contractors on, a range of watermain renewal programs for Victorian water authorities, including Yarra Valley Water, City West Water, Goulburn Valley Water, Barwon Water, Central Gippsland Water and South East Water.

A recent project from DKM Utility Services included the replacement of over 300 m of 450 mm diameter ductile iron pipe in the Shepparton Saleyards in regional Victoria.

According to DKM Project Engineer Neil Walsh, the main was the primary supply to food manufacturer SPC Ardmona and was also a critical supply to Campbell’s Soups manufacturing plant, both located in Shepparton.

Mobilising swiftly for the project, DKM Utility Services completed the asset replacement and commissioning in five weeks from the original tender award, coordinating the final connections with a planned maintenance shutdown at SPC Ardmona.

Another recent project from the company was the successful installation and commissioning of the Afton Street Stormwater Harvesting Scheme, a 2.6 km recycled water distribution system utilising 125PE pipe.

According to Neil Walsh, the project was identified as a priority stormwater harvesting project within the Moonee Valley City Council, with the resulting stormwater to be used as an irrigation water supply for sporting reserves around Riverside Park in Aberfeldie.

For the project, DKM Utility Services also installed a pump station and an electrical and communications control cabinet.

In business for over 16 years and with a rich project history and specialisations across a range of trenchless technologies – including directional drilling, hydro excavation, utility locating, leak detection and pipe bursting – DKM Utility Services is a valuable addition to the ranks of the Australasian Society for Trenchless Technology.
