Sewerage improvements for Bacchus Marsh

The AU$1.4 million project will involve installing 2.1 km gravity sewer though excavating 8 m deep into volcanic rock and tunnelling under the Western Freeway.

The existing sewer system in O’Keefe Crescent has been causing problems for residents over the past few years, says Western Water’s General Manager, Customer and Community Relations, Graham Holt.

“We have had some instances of sewage overflowing in wet weather, which this project should remedy,” Mr Holt says.

“We have been working with the Council and the community for some time now to come up with a solution that will be effective, with very little impact on the reserve.”

Mr Holt says there should be minimal disruption to residents during the work, which is expected to be finished by May 2016, weather permitting.
