The upgrades cover the installation of new pipelines, relining of water storage facilities and upgrades to other assets. Once completed the works will improve the quality and reliability of drinking water in at least eight local townships, including Morwell, Churchill, Yinnar, Boolarra, Hazelwood North, Jeeralang, Jumbuk and Traralgon South. The project work should improve the drinking water supply for at least 11,000 customers connected to the network. David Mawer, Managing Director of Gippsland Water, said “This is a major investment and is part of the AU$5.5 million we will be spending in the Latrobe City alone over the next year on improving services for customers. “This particular investment will extend the useful life of several critical assets for the next 20 years.” For further information on these upgrades visit the Gippsland Water website.
