The funding is part of the National Water Infrastructure Development Fund, which will enable states and territories to conduct feasibility studies into programs that will support water infrastructure development.
Federal Minister for Agriculture and Water Resources, Barnaby Joyce, said that the funding will also enable states and territories to conduct critical early planning work on technical, environmental and economic assets for specific infrastructure projects.
“The fund will support new and augmented water infrastructure, including dams, pipelines and managed aquifer recharge projects around Australia to secure the nation’s water supplied and to deliver strong economic benefits while also protecting our environment,” said My Joyce.
Expressions of interest are currently open and will close on 21 January 2016.
