New GM focused on improving water and sewage services

Mr Gouldthorp was appointed after a comprehensive recruitment process and was officially endorsed after a recent board meeting.

Mr Gouldthorp said that he looked forward to working with the board to continue the improvement of MidCoast Water’s water and wastewater services.

MidCoast Water Chairperson Aled Hogget said “I am delighted that such a large number of high quality candidates sought the role, coming from South Australia, Queensland, Victoria, Western Australia, Tasmania, New South Wales and the ACT.

“With the decision now made the board is looking to the future with great anticipation. Ken has expertise in water management and his leadership and financial acumen will be a significant value to the organisation and the MidCoast community.”

Before taking on the MidCoast Water job, Mr Gouldthorp was the General Manager of Newcastle City Council.

He has also previously held positions as the CEO of Toowoomba Regional Council, Chief Operating Officer of Sunwater in Queensland, CEO of Mackay City Council and Director of Business at Curtin University.

With the role officially commencing on 21 March, Mr Goulthorp will visit the organisation in the coming weeks to meet current staff members and prepare for the job.
