Shortlist announced for Melbourne Metro Rail early works

The shortlist include three significant bidders:

CPB Contractors (formally Leighton Contractors)
John Holland KBR JV (composed of John Holland Group and KBR)
Lend Lease Coleman Rail JV (composed of Lend Lease Engineering and Coleman Rail).

The shortlisting process occurred after a demanding Expressions of Interest process, which the Melbourne Metro Rail Authority (MMRA) says delivered a high standard of response from companies across the world.

Shortlisted bidders have been requested to submit a formal proposal during the second quarter of 2016.

The final contract will be awarded in mid-2016, with construction scheduled to commence in the subsequent months.

The Early Works contract includes site investigation and the relocation and protection of numerous underground services including gas, sewer and water mains.

CEO of the Melbourne Metro Rail Authority Evan Tattersall said “Following detailed evaluation of the expressions of interest, to have three bidders with such a high levels of experience in international and local transport projects is a fantastic result for Victoria.”

In conjunction with the shortlist announcement, the MMRA also released the following video project update.
