SA Water appoints new CEO

Mount Kynoch Water Treatment Plant

Mr Cheroux is currently the CEO of SUEZ Southeast Asia and was previously the CEO of SUEZ – Degremont in Australia and New Zealand.

Prior to SUEZ, Mr Cheroux was the Managing Director of United Utilities Australia and played a significant role in the delivery of the Riverland water treatment and the Adelaide Desalination Plant project.

SA Water selected Mr Cheroux for the utility’s top job due to his extensive water industry experience, understanding of the South Australia and international water sector, and reportedly impressive stakeholder communication and management skills.

SA Water Chairman Lew Owens said “Mr Cheroux has demonstrated a solid track record of driving efficiency and delivering service excellence in the water industry across a number of countries.

“He showed a passion for working closely with our customers and stakeholders to ensure SA Water delivers the services our customers want at the lowest possible price, and contributing to the growth of the state.”

Mr Cheroux said “SA Water is a very important organisation for the people and businesses of South Australia, and I am honoured to be given this opportunity.

“I intend to continue the work of recent years in driving efficiency, reducing costs, and supporting the growth of industries and employment across the state.

“We have a wealth of technical and operational knowledge to draw upon from within the business, and we will continue to strive to be a more customer-focused organisation.”

Mr Cheroux will officially take up the position with SA Water in July 2016 after the departure of current CEO John Ringham.

He will be in place for the start of the 2016-2020 regulatory period.
