WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff adds to Australasian team

The most senior of the new recruits is Andrew Kindred who joins the team as a Technical Executive.

Mr Kindred is a senior tunnelling specialist who has held key design and leadership roles on projects such as North West Rail Link, Shatin to Central in Hong Kong, and the Melbourne Main Sewer Replacements project.

Mr Kindred will be joined by:

  • Andrew Owen, Principal Project Manager
  • Michael Behrens, Principal Tunnel Engineer
  • Wing Wong, Senior Tunnel Engineer
  • Dean Treweek, Tunnel Engineer
  • Xavier Ryan, Lead Drafter.

WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff Section Executive, Geotechnics & Tunnels, Doug Graham said the appointments align with a deliberate strategy to grow the company’s tunnelling capabilities; “We foresee a strong pipeline of tunnelling projects coming to market over the next few months.

“The collective experience of our new recruits position us well for major tunnelling projects such as the Victorian Western Distributor, Melbourne Metro, Perth Freight Link, Forrestfield Airport Link in Perth, Auckland City Rail Link and Sydney’s WestConnex.”

Mr Owen, Mr Wong, Mr Treweek and Mr Ryan started their roles in April 2016. Mr Kindred and Mr Behrens will start in June 2016. The new recruits will be based in Melbourne, supporting the company’s regional Australian and New Zealand team.

Mr Kindred has over 26 years of experience in the planning, design, construction and supervision of construction of tunnels and other subsurface excavations in both hard and soft ground.

Mr Owen has over 30 years of experience in the delivery of tunnel projects, and adds international program and project management skills of major transport and tunnelling projects to the team.

Mr Behrens has over 24 years of experience in the design management and design of tunnels, shafts and major civil infrastructure projects in Australia and internationally, having filled key design roles on the delivery of North West Rail link and the Westside Subway Extension in Los Angeles.

Mr Wong has over 11 years of experience and is a specialist in cut and cover, tunnel boring machine, drill and blast and cross passage design of tunnels, designing for both temporary and permanent cases.

Mr Treweek brings with him 7 years of experience designing tunnel projects, has been appointed as Tunnel Engineer for his experience in specialist areas such as segmental lining design.

Mr Ryan has been brought on to lead WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff’s drafting capability in Victoria.
