NULCA elects first non-Australian to committee

Innes Fisher was added to the committee after several long-standing members stepped down.

Mr Fisher, the founder and owner of Utility Location Services in Hamilton, New Zealand, addressed delegates at the meeting, and outlined his goal to spread the word about NULCA.

“As the only NULCA Accredited Member in New Zealand I’ve come to appreciate the importance of good training,” Mr Innes said.

“New Zealand still has no widely recognised utility locator training or competency certification.

“Kiwi professional locators also aren’t able to access an industry body that supports their aspirations to see significant improvements in the quality of locating in New Zealand.

“Despite the fact that NULCA is primarily an Australian association, I’ve remained a member since joining in 2013.

“The value of belonging to an industry group are immense and that’s the reason I put my hand up to join the Committee.

“As well as continuing to support the wider interests of the professional Australasian locating community I want to see NULCA develop strongly in New Zealand with professional locators becoming members and there being a greater range of benefits for those Kiwis that do join.

“NUCLA has a great future in Australasia and will play a key role in helping to raise the standard of general locating in New Zealand.”
