Golder conducts ongoing ground surveys for AU$518 million Ballarat Line Upgrade

Since February, Golder has explored more than 200 locations, and drilled bore than 90 boreholes, along an 18 km stretch between Deer Park West and Melton.

The investigations will provide critical information about ground conditions along the Ballarat line, which will influence the final design and build of the project.

Earlier this month, the Andrews Government announced that it had chosen the LendleaseColeman RailSMEC consortium as the preferred bidder to construct the AU$518 million project.

It will duplicate an existing track, paving the way for electrification along the route, enabling more trains for passengers in Melbourne’s west.

The upgrade is part of the AU$1.5 billion Regional Rail Revival, which is funded by the Federal Government following the long-term lease of the Port of Melbourne.
