South East Water trials Aqua-Pipe

In a month-long trial, 1.1 km of redundant asbestos cement water main was lined with 88 mm DN 100 and DN 150 liner, custom designed for the Melbourne market.

The project is designed to gain an understanding of the application of water main and sewer lining, and develop standards and specifications for pipeline rehabilitation to meet Australian conditions.

Recently, the project hosted 22 visitors from Water Services Association Australia, Monash University, South East Water, University of Technology Sydney and Sydney Water to gain insights on the project.

The trial has provided the South East Water team with knowledge of the equipment, plant and process, as well as demonstrating the potential of water main lining in Australia.
