The latest development puts the project on schedule for completion in November.
The rehabilitation works, part of a number of Melbourne Water trenchless projects, are designed to extend the life of the 110-year-old asset by up to 50 years.
The project used two trenchless relining techniques: spiral wound lining and cured-in-place pipe.
Challenges faced throughout the project have included the main’s location in sandy erodible soils in a single layer brick construction.
It also contains a 1,210 mm ovoid shape and a section of 610 mm circular concrete pipe.
The relined infrastructure stretches from North Road in Brighton to Orlando Street in Hampton, with reinstatement activity scheduled to take place over the next two months.
