Sydney Water announces new CEO

Sydney Water Chairman Bruce Morgan announced the news this week and said Mr Cheroux was selected after an extensive search both in Australia and overseas.

“Roch is a key influencer in the water industry with significant experience in shaping and leading public and private corporations across the Asia-Pacific region and Europe,” said Mr Morgan.

“We look forward to working with Roch on continuing to lead Sydney Water’s customer-centric journey and provide essential services to keep Greater Sydney liveable, productive and thriving for a sustainable future.”

Mr Cheroux is a director of the Water Services Association of Australia and also leads the national committee on Utility Excellence.

Mr Morgan also thanked departing Manging Directory Kevin Young, who will finish up with Sydney Water on 31 July.

“Under his leadership, Sydney Water has taken customer satisfaction and reputation to all-time highs and have achieved significant gains in culture, safety, diversity and digital transformation,” he said.

“Kevin has taken on the challenges of drought and growth and has laid a solid foundation to prepare the organisation for future opportunities.

“He leaves the organisation fit for the future and I wish him all the best.”

Mr Cheroux will start with Sydney Water on 2 September.
