Dial Before You Dig (DBYD) has introduced a new rule allowing enquiries to be lodged one business day prior to commencing work.
In response to user feedback, from 1 July 2019, enquiries to obtain asset location information from the DBYD referral service can be made one day prior to work commencing.
The next business day rule will apply to request made before 7pm AEST; enquiries made after this time will roll over to the next day.
The new rule does not change the Duty of Care responsibility to obtain all necessary information and take all reasonable precaution to prevent damage and injury prior to commencing work.
This change is designed to make it easier to register an enquiry, particularly as the DBYD has seen an increase in the use of mobile app enquiries – accounting for 18 per cent of lodgements – and an increased use of digitised data by asset owners.
