CAPE secures major contract

The ‘miscellaneous services package’ contract is in relation to Rio Tinto’s Robe Valley Sustaining Project, located approximately 140 km southwest of Karratha in the Pilbara, WA.

The scope of work includes relocation and modifications to existing electrical services, realignment of existing raw water services, horizontal directional drilling below live rail lines, construction of waste fines pipelines and the removal and decommissioning of existing underground services.

CAPE is also contracted to install both overhead and underground 33 kV powerlines, communication infrastructure and pole and pad mounted transformers.

CAPE CEO Greg Hutchinson said the project and contract is well suited to CAPE’s service offering.

“It is very pleasing to be awarded this contract, which is highly technical and will require significant interface management as we will be working in a live brownfields environment,” said Mr Hutchinson.

“This contract will draw on CAPE’s extensive underground services pedigree encompassing power, water and communications infrastructure as well as civil and HDD.

“We look forward to working in partnership with Rio Tinto on the project.”

Works are anticipated to take six months to complete.
