Cross River Rail moves onto next stage

Cross River Rail has moved onto the next stage of the development.

This stage, known as the Request for Project Change, allows members of the public to contribute to changes to the project in order to increase the accessibility and efficiency of the transport network.

Cross River Rail is one of the largest infrastructure projects ever undertaken in Queensland, connecting the northern and southern rail networks in Brisbane’s CBD and adding four new inner-city stations.

The railway will run 10.2 km from Dutton Park to Bowen Hills, with 5.9 km of the alignment tunnelled under the Brisbane River and CBD.

The project, set to be operational in 2024, will enable extra network capacity required to operate higher frequency public transport.

In April, the Cross River Delivery Authority announced it had selected the preferred joint ventures (JVs) to deliver two of the AU$5.4 billion project’s major contracts.
