Sydney Metro reaches new milestone

NDDU

Since launching in February 2019, TBM Mabel has travelled 6.2 km underground from Chatswood – via new metro railway stations at Crows Nest and Victoria Cross – to reach Blues Point.

This is an important step in extending Sydney Metro into the city as it means the twin tunnels between Chatswood and the edge of Sydney Harbour are now completed.

Three of the five TBMs building the twin tunnels between Chatswood and Sydenham have now finished work, with TBM Mabel being the third to arrive at Blues Point.

Structural and tunnelling works will continue throughout 2020 in addition to infrastructure upgrades across the existing network.

By 2024, Sydney will have 31 metro railway stations and a 66 km standalone metro railway system, making room for 100,000 extra customers across the city.
